Shipping Pavilion

China’s legendary shipping factory – the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the owner of the more than 140-year-old Jiangnan Shipyard, will build a pavilion on the Huangpu River to provide an insight into future waterside life at the shanghai expo.

The corporation has a great deal of experience in building various kinds of warships and auxiliary vessels as well as related equipment for the Chinese navy. The original shipyard has been relocated to Changxing Island.

The 5,000-square-meter pavilion will be renovated from a welding workshop in the shipyard.

The pavilion will make use of some historical buildings on a plot which once housed the 142-year-old Jiangnan Shipyard. The original shipyard has been relocated to Changxing Island.

Although not looking like a ship, Shipping Pavilion will be supported by a steel keel.

The corporation will display the development of the country’s shipping industry and exhibit models of future ships.

Shipping Pavilion is the 13th corporate pavilion confirmed for Expo. Expo will have 16 corporate pavilions.
