The Taiwan pavilion was divided into several areas, including a huge three-dimensional theater where visitors can have a virtual tour of Wednesday’s Taiwan via short movies and light-and-sound shows.

Two projects, Wireless Taipei and Taipei Infinity, will be demonstrated at the Taipei pavilion. They are among some 50 “urban best practices area” expo projects, which are designed to display solutions to urban issues, including energy efficiency to waste treatment, under the theme of “Better City, Better Life.”

Visitors would see Taiwan as an international metropolis defined by advanced technology, cultural diversity and a high quality of life, Hau said.

The construction of the Taiwan Pavilion was scheduled to be completed in March, this year.

The 2010 shanghai world expo will remain open from May 1 to Oct.31. It is expected to attract 70 million visitors, of whom 95 percent will be domestic visitors.

A total of 242 countries and international organizations had confirmed participation as of last month, according to the official Expo website.
