The Rhône-Alpes region pavilion

The Rhône-Alpes region of France will stage a 20-minute magnificent light show at its pavilion through the six-month Shanghai World Expo to exhibit its energy-efficient illumination system.

There will be seminars and performances centering on Rhône-Alpes’s lighting technology and art, and that is human-oriented and can help reduce light pollution and relieve eyestrain.

The system will also light up some areas of the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) which covers 15 hectares.

The case highlights architecturally eco-friendly concept. The pavilion covers an area of 3,123 square meters and uses special bricks that can keep warmth and filter solar radiance.

According to the climate outside, the temperature can be controlled by facilities inside the pavilion automatically.

A rose garden which is covering 670 square meters at the square of the pavilion will showcase blossoming scenery of rose during the fair.

Visitors will also be able to taste authentic French delicacies and even learn French-style cooking at the restaurant in the pavilion, which can accommodate 150 to 200 visitors.

The structure is scheduled to be finished by the end of March.
