ROK Joint-Corporate Pavilion

ROK (Republic of Korea) Joint-Corporate Pavilion’s Construction started from September 18, 2009 for the Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

About 12 South Korean companies participate in building the ROK Joint-Corporate Pavilion, including Samsung, E-mart and LG.

The theme of the ROK Joint-Corporate Pavilion is “Green City, Green Life”, with an area of 3,000 square meters.

The pavilion is a cube with spirals and the design is inspired by the skirts of a dancing ROK woman wearing traditional costume.

Theme Idea: Possibility with respect

Location: Zone E of Expo site

Building Area: 3,309 Square Meters

Profile:

Seven golden-rick-shaped buildings on the west bank of Pujiang River gracefully display the exuberant vitality. Vanke Pavilion uses the natural wheat straw board material as the external walls, and consists of seven independent tube-shaped halls which are connected by blue translucent ETFE membranes. More than 1,000-square-meter open water surrounds the seven cylinders, with water face mapping the sky. The designers try to make visitors feel the joy of closeness with nature. And this stretch of open water can also regulate temperature and humidity to create a natural and comfortable environment.

Vanke Pavilin is named “2049”, which will enhance the public’s attention to the future. 2049 not only means a person’s future, but also means the future of a city, a country or even the whole planet. At the same time, it also symbolizes a journey to the future which contains unlimited possibilities. Vanke Pavilin will tell about the mutual respect of people, nature and cities through five little stories, hoping share the thinking and exploration of “possibility with respect” with visitors from all over the world.

Feature:

Wheat straw board is the main building material of Vanke Pavilion. In addition, the pavilion will use two natural ventilation modes to maximize natural ventilation so that it will reduce the use time of air conditioning and reduce the energy consumption in the process of operation.

Private Enterprises Joint Pavilion

Private Enterprises Joint Pavilion is located at Puxi section of the Expo site and covers an area of 6,000 square meters. With the creativity of “cell”, Private Enterprises Joint Pavilion will focus on the “infinite vitality” theme to symbolize the infinite vitality of many private enterprises, as well as their energy embedded in their internal.

The pavilion consists of several huge cylinders and these cylinders are organically combined with each other by perfect harmonious surfaces, which represent the joint exhibition of many private enterprises.

In terms of appearance, Private Enterprises Joint Pavilion boldly adopts curve design with rich colors and forms. When visitors see at different angles as well as the changing positions of the sun, the pavilion’s appearance will present colorful sights and interesting expressions. At night, in addition to images, with lighting, sound and special performance ways, the entire pavilion will be rich display of lights and colors.
