A two-year countdown to 2012 London Olympics in British Pavilion

July 27, British Pavilion started countdown to the 2012 London Olympics. British National Youth Theatre showed a unique repertoire, while at the same time  thofficial website of British Pavilion launched a photo collection contest named “My favorite sports moment“.

London Olympics emphasised on sustainable development and public participation, which was consistent with 2010 expo theme “Better City, Better Life” . Ms. Carma Elliot, British Consul General in Shanghai, said that British Pavilion better reflects all what London Olympics represents. She said that British Pavilion served as a gathering place for visitors to experience the benefits of bringing nature into the city. British Pavilion was hoped to bring the spirit of 2012 London Olympic Games to Shanghai.

Indonesian Pavilion

July 26, Indonesia Pavilion, with “eco-diversity city” as its theme, met its 400th visitor. It is reported that it was the second time of the lucky visitor to visit Indonesia Pavilion. Her name is Ji Ping, who is a cashier. She said that she was deeply impressed by the pavilion’s beautiful atmosphere and the green concept when she first entered into Indonesia Pavilion. At this time when she come back to visit Indonesia Pavilion, she become the lucky visitor who will get two air ticktes form Shanghai to Bali, and three days and two nights accommodation in two five-star hotels for free.

Indonesian Pavilion has four tiers, with a stage, auditorium, multi-media theater and other areas inside, showing the beautiful scenery of Indonesia, people’s simple living conditions, and Indonesia’s marine life, culture and creativity. Visitors can feel rich land resources and cultural heritage of Indonesia.

The world-famous Silk Road was redisplayed in the European Pavilion at shanghai expo. A named “Silk Road” photography show appeared in European Pavilion in July 19, which attracted the attention of visitors.

As the other end of the Silk Road, a Greece consul general in Shanghai told reporters on the 20th that he hoped this a-week-long photo exhibition could better demonstrate a long history of exchanges between Europe and China.

The exhibition shows photographs that city Landscapes along the Silk Road including Xi’an, Turpan, Jiayuguan, etc. The photos showed not only the China Western Regions magnificent scenery but also the distinctive customs of the people along the way with eclectic styles.

It was reported these works come form a Greece photographer. In 2008, he passed through China, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and other countries along the way with his daughter, taking more than 150 photographic works.
